MMD was founded in 2007 by a creatively-minded Oxford-educated entertainment lawyer who was searching for a striking light fixture at a well-known design showroom. Unimpressed by their offerings, Michael McHale set out on a mission to redefine what luxury lighting could be.

Likewise, Michael McHale Designs transforms the ordinary forgotten materials of our built environment into beautiful and memorable lighting forms that are both aesthetically satisfying and timeless.
We believe that lighting is an underdeveloped art form. With each collection, we strive to push the boundaries of what’s possible in contemporary lighting.

TABLE LAMPS
We've made a number of different types of table and floor lamps, each following the design principles of our various collections.
SCONCES
Our sconces have taken different forms over the years, but all feature mirrored backplates, luminaries, and walls of crystal.
From outdoor chandeliers to 3D-printed pendants, our custom work is as fresh, memorable and spectacular as the set and setting allows.
